Moms Rock This World
Today
is Mother’s Day - a day where millions of moms receive recognition, flowers,
and gifts, and while I’ll be pampering my sweet Mom and my kids have already
showered me with kisses, homemade cards and flowers, I want to take this
opportunity to recognize the amazing power us Moms have. What better day than today to acknowledge
mom’s work, her labor, her dedication, her sacrifices and the tremendous force
they are in the U.S. (and everywhere else too).
The power of moms
There
are nearly 85 million moms in the U.S. with a buying power of $2.4 trillion dollars
(yes, that’s right...$2.4 trillion!). As a marketing strategic planner, I think
about what those numbers represent. Not only is mom a powerful and influential
force within her own family circle, but moms as a whole bring enormous value to
society and the economy as well.
We are in charge of what comes in and
goes out of our homes. Moms make or influence 85% of all consumer purchases so that means we have the power to
move the economy and make a true impact. We can make or break a brand, so make
sure your messaging speaks to emotions we truly connect with. A good example is
how Strawberryfrog, a NY ad agency puts moms in leadership roles because they
know that “moms offer a valuable perspective for brands who are targeting that
exact group.” http://tinyurl.com/zdxsbe9
We are savvy, creative women redefining
modern parenting
For
one thing, there are more women in the work force today than ever, so we are
juggling more than seems possible. But we do it, and we find creative ways to
make it all work. In my case, I do not do it all alone. I have my own momtourage including my
wonderful husband, my mom, my sisters, my nephews, and my mom friends. Seek
them out because they will support you, it really does take a village.
While we are multi-minded, we are also
mindful
My
motto in life is “be where you are.” While multi-tasking is a necessary evil,
we are innately good at it. Being the CEO of your household requires us to wear
many hats, sometimes simultaneously, and maybe even comfortably, but one thing
we aim to do is to be present in the moment.
The true gifts of life are in the moments, whether at work or at home.
So
on a day like today, I recognize how “big” moms are not only with the love and
dedication they have for their family, but also the powerful force they truly
are. Mom’s rock this world!
